Course 3: A Simplified Approach to Statistics and Data Analysis

This course was developed to demystify the social science terms and applications that are associated with commonly used statistical test. The purpose of this course is to help students understand how to interpret and apply research data for personal, academic, and business use.

At the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Select the proper statistical test for a given research objective
  • Understand the difference between population and sample data
  • Distinguish between parameters and statistics
  • Understand Measures of Central Tendency
  • Describe the impact of variability on data reliability
  • Explain the characteristics and meaning of normal distribution
  • Understand standard scores
  • Analyze statistical results

Prerequisite: Completion of the following courses:
Course 1: The Fundamentals of Quantitative Survey Design
Course 2: The Fundamentals of Online Survey Design
